Count all your hours and all your costs.
The pay a platform shows you isn't what you keep. Your true hourly pay counts every hour you spend, including waiting and driving, and takes off your costs and taxes.
The formula
- Add up gross earnings, including tips
- Subtract costs: mileage, supplies, fees, a share of your phone
- Subtract a tax set-aside
- Divide by every hour spent: working, waiting, driving, admin
Compare fairly
Use the same method for every gig. A job that pays less per task but has no driving can easily beat one that pays more but eats fuel and time.
